Hi...

This blog is meant to serve two purposes. A place for me to write and talk about my life in Africa and a place where those that support the Parker Memorial Library can read about how the library is progressing. I hope that in both purposes, the read is informative and enjoyable! I will be sure to post pictures and write at least once a week.  

Our plane ride to the States went very well. It was great to be able to celebrate with Todd and Lauren on their wedding day. My grandparent's farm was a great place to have it (minus the cow patties :)). I think my favorite part was helping direct the wedding.  

The library is on it's way to being established! This weekend I have been invited to show my presentation (which I will put on here in good time) to the Logan Martin congregation (in Pell City, AL) after services. There are still many things to do, but with God's help, all will be accomplished.

Well folks, it's been a while since I've written and for that I apologize. I just didn't feel like I had much to say in the progress of the library ( or my life for that matter- we traveled here, we traveled there), but now I clearly have enough. :) Since GBN I have tried to contact several people in  many congregations, attempting to get either one-time funds or monthly support.  I've gotten some  no's and have yet to receive any donations. But I've been told that you have to get a certain number of "no's" before you can get any "yes's".  I just spent the last  week in Montgomery. Dad was recording a class that he's teaching at Faulkner ( he's not going to be able to be there for all the semester). Me and David tagged along, hoping to get a few things done. Todd had agreed to give me some driving lessons and Robert Waggoner had told me to stop by when I got the chance and go through some books of his to see if I w...

Reaching Out

Hello from Pa! We had another great clothing giveaway on November 7th. The congregation really stepped up and we had even more clothes to give out to the community this time. It was a good thing too, because a friend of a family who lost their home to a fire stopped by and gathered up 12-15 bags of clothes and food. That brought our total to 75 bags of clothing and food given out and 18 families aided. We also had a member bring a bunch of books she no longer needed. When I saw this table, all I could think was "I need these!" Even though they were mostly children's books, there was this desire to take them all home with me. I obviously have a problem, hehe. The helpers enjoyed a meal of sloppy joes and baked beans. We would have had a bigger turn out but one of the members needed help moving so 5 or 6 men spent all morning and some of the afternoon assisting them. All in all, it was a great day.
